Obituary of Becky Alcorn Harris
Rebecca (Becky) Alcorn Harris departed this life on January 8th, 2025 after a decline in health for several years to join her beloved husband of 58 years, Carl A. Harris.
Becky was born August 15, 1943 to the late William (Billy) F. Alcorn and Mildred Alverson Alcorn.
Becky was a graduate of Brosville High School and retired from Kroger after 40 years, well known as a checker and working in the floral department. She also worked for several years at Danville Souther Virginia Mental Health Institute before ending her working days. Becky was a devoted wife, and daughter-in-law, caring for her mother-in-law until her passing. Becky was a member of Fairview Methodist Church and was a people person, always friendly and full of life. She loved telling jokes, riding the motorcycle with Carl, and she loved all animals, especially their boxer Rocky. She was a big Elvis Presley fan and had many collectables. Becky was loved by many, and will be missed very much.
Survivors include one sister, Brenda DeVall of Danville, one brother William (Franky) F. Alcorn Jr (Luona) of Belews Creek, NC, multiple brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held January 25th, at 2 PM, at Fairview Methodist Church Westover Drive. Danville VA. Reception immediately following the service. Family and friends at other times will be received at the home of her Sister Brenda DeVall.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to one of Becky’s favorite charities, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital (StJudes.org), or Halifax County Virginia Paws and Claws SPCA. from where her beloved dog Rocky was adopted. (PO Box 14, South Boston VA 24592)
